My passion is working with newborns.

I love supporting you as a parent in your journey of welcoming a new baby.

Feeding is a fundamental part of raising your newborn.

Breastfeeding is a learned behavior, as are bottle feeding and pumping.

You don’t have to do it alone!

Allow me to teach & support you through this process.

What is a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC)?

A trained professional who assists mothers facing specific challenges related to breastfeeding or newborn feeding.

Using observation, education & guidance, I will seek to:

  • Identify any underlying issues

  • Make recommendations to correct those issues

  • Work together to develop a plan that best suits the needs of both you & your baby

  • Provide reassurance that everything is going well & that any problems can be addressed during our time together

One-On-One Lactation Consultations can help set the stage for a longer, more successful breastfeeding relationship with your baby.

This allows the breastfeeding relationship to be joyful, pleasurable and fulfilling.

Breastfeeding Assessment: I will observe a feeding & help correct or improve specific challenges that arise, including:

  • Latch (I’ll offer techniques to improve any difficulties)

  • Positioning (Learn different breastfeeding positions & which one is best for you & your baby)

  • Comfort (for both mom & baby)

  • Nipple & Breast pain

  • Low milk supply

  • Over supply

  • Inadequate baby weight gain

  • Arrival of mature milk (techniques for dealing with engorgement)

  • Transfer of milk to baby

  • Pumping (Getting started & establishing a schedule)

As a CLC, my support is non-judgemental and unconditional for every woman on a breastfeeding journey (or any type of newborn feeding journey!)

* I am NOT a medical professional. If a clinical evaluation is deemed necessary, I will provide you with referrals to appropriate medical experts. *

Testimonials

“Alyssa is a brilliant combination of heart and practicality. Over video, she provided clear and calm guidance to help improve my newborn baby’s latch and establish successful breastfeeding. She is full of information and practical tips and was available to answer any questions I had. She even followed up with research and supporting articles. The newborn days are tender and tiring. Alyssa’s knowledge, temperament, and commitment to supporting us made a stressful experience DOABLE, and I can’t recommend her highly enough.”

— Laura H.

Alyssa is truly an invaluable resource as you become a mother (either for the first time or beyond).  Through both in-person and virtual meetings Alyssa provided clear, compassionate support as I learned to breastfed my newborn. She was patient, caring, and knowledge in all of our interactions. She helped me attain a proper latch and establish regular feedings with both of my children. She offers solution-based support and encouragement through all stages of motherhood. While her knowledge is vast, she is also eager to learn more and supplement her guidance with research. Her ability to equally care for the mother, newborn, older sibling, and the family as a whole is what makes her different from other providers. She will truly work to make sure your transition to motherhood and your feeding relationship is positive for you and your entire family. Her knowledge of what each individual family needs is key to her success!

Alyssa is a fabulous resource for newborn life, especially breastfeeding! She was unfailingly patient, willing to stand/kneel/perch beside me for long periods while I nursed. She is non-judgemental, encouraging, and gave practical, hands-on help for my painful latches and blocked ducts. Alyssa was a great help during the vulnerable and exhausting period of new motherhood.
